Testing for public safety

It is the purpose of this paper to briefly discuss the organization, purpose, and methods of Underwriters¹ Laboratories, Inc., as applied to the testing and listing of electronic appliances such as radio and television receivers. The philosophy of the Laboratories with regard to the hazards which may be present in such appliances will be reviewed, highlights of our testing program will be summarized, and a number of color slides showing typical tests will be explained.
