Abstract
The joint Anglo-American research satellite Ariel has been orbiting the Earth for over a year and has transmitted a large number of measurements of its environment to the ground stations. The results obtained from all these data were presented at a meeting of the Royal Society in May 1963 and are summarized in this article by one of the leading workers connected with the project.
