Abstract :
It is useful to have codes in which some information digits are protected against a greater number of errors than other information digits. Masnick and Wolf (1967) were the first to introduce such unequal error-protection (UEP) codes. The authors present some new parameters to describe the performance of UEP codes and a new class of UEP array codes which have simple structure and many adjustable error-protection levels
