Abstract
Distinguishable EM-field intensity patterns in a bounded observation domain can be set into a one to one correspondance with finite-length code-words built from a discrete finite alphabet. Conservative upper bounds on wordlength and alphabet-size can be derived from the gross features of the problem´s geometry and sources. Field intensity pattern probabilities, and their Shannon set-entropy can be estimated from a statistical description of the (true and equivalent) sources.
