Abstract
The thermal noise of a transmission line is evaluated from its fundamental sources: distributed series resistance R(Ω/m) and shunt conductance G(S/m). A general solution was found that applies to all operating conditions, including the calculation of the cumulative thermal noise at any point of a line subject to nonuniform temperature.
