Abstract :
The authors consider the field behaviour in the neighbourhood of a conducting edge embedded in an inhomogeneous anisotropic medium which is described by arbitrary permittivity and permeability tensors. An eigen-equation is derived, whose minimum root governs the behaviour of each of the field components in the vicinity of the edge. Numerical examples are given for some typical geometries encountered in waveguiding structures
