Abstract
This paper deals with the problem of identifying the Preisach and threshold functions characterizing a mathematical model of hysteresis based on bistable relays in two dimensions. The main task in this identification problem is to find the set of experiments that provide sufficient information for the computation of these functions. It is shown that measurements of the aggregate magnetization made after partial reversals at zero value of the magnetic field provide the required information.
