Abstract :
Practical innovative design for engineering manufacture may be described as `methodical creativity´. It requires a detailed working definition of design, its interpretation into a working flowchart and full acceptance of the holistic nature of design. This article aims to investigate in some detail what design actually entails, with particular reference to the engineering manufacturing sector and with an emphasis on capital goods
