Abstract :
A system for automatic inspection of bare printed circuit boards is described that uses three concepts: multiple inspection systems; learn and inspect phases of inspection; a hierarchy of detection processes to satisfy the four basic criteria for a successful inspection system, namely detection performance, speed, cost, and flexibility. The system has reached a stage at which industrial implementation can be considered.
