Abstract :
Gain and image shift measurements are presented for a proximity-focused microchannel plate (MCP) image intensifier as a function of magnetic field (to 0.12 T) transverse to the optical axis. A simple model involving the angle of electron deflection, end-spoiled channel length and effective open area is described which agrees with the experiment.
