Abstract
The replicon model, which was introduced to describe the evolution of gene distribution in biological populations, is adapted to represent the stochastic evolution of the size of a firm in a model industry. The replicon model is shown to clarify the underlying mechanism of technological evolution in industry using computer simulation.
