Abstract :
We propose an all-optical return-to-zero (RZ) to nonreturn-to-zero (NRZ) format converter utilizing a microfiber knot resonator and an optical bandpass filter. The operation principle is numerically simulated and analyzed. By adjusting the diameter of microfiber knot, the format conversion from RZ to NRZ is successfully demonstrated at different bit rates. The bit-error-rate measurements show the good performance of the proposed format converter.
