Abstract :
The author provides an overview of the events at the Workshop on Stochastic Systems Biology, which was held in Monte Verita, Switzerland, on 20¿22 July 2011. The aim of the three-day workshop was to expose the synergies that allow methods from mathematics, control engineering, computer science, and biology to jointly address the challenges that randomness poses in our understanding of biological systems. The workshop brought together leading researchers from all these fields that have faced and addressed the issue of uncertainty in biological processes from various perspectives.
