  • Abstract
The characteristics of track-edge noise are studied using an extension of a 2-D micro-track model. Various experimentally observed characteristics of the noise power variation with cross-track position can be explained using the 3-D micro-track model. These include the noise peaks at the track-edge and the variation of the noise power with linear density. The 3-D micro-track model is much faster than micromagnetic simulation for calculations of noise power versus off-track position.
