  • Abstract
A coplanar waveguide fed monopole ultra-wideband antenna with triple subband notched characteristics and small volume (23 × 29 × 0.8 × mm3) is presented. The proposed antenna yields impedance bandwidth of 3.1-10.6-GHz with return loss S11-10-dB, except for the three subbands of 3.3-3.7-GHz for WiMAX, 5.15-5.825-GHz for WLAN and 7.25-7.75-GHz for the downlink of X-band satellite communication systems. These notched subbands are obtained by etching two simple types of slots on the radiating patch, which are L-shaped and semicircular slots. The antenna was successfully fabricated and measured, showing broadband matched impedance and nearly omnidirectional radiation pattern.
