            Abstract : 
A Y-branch wavelength multi/demultiplexer for optical WDM communication systems has been investigated. An Al2O3 strip is loaded on one of the ion-exchanged arms formed in soda-lime glass. The wavelength separation was demonstrated with extinction ratios of 5.3 and 5.7 dB at 1.30 and 1.55 mu m, respectively.
