Abstract :
When Toronto became the first city in Canada to inaugurate a public subway for passenger transport, its engineers had a wealth of experience in Europe and the United States to study. While it is natural to expect that they would have, inclined strongly towards the views of their neighbours, the Toronto Transit Commission selected from all over the world the ideas best suited to their local conditions and finally had their rolling stock built in England.
