Abstract :
The authors report 1.3 mu m band amplification in a neodymium (Nd3+) doped single-mode fluorozirconate fibre. Gain of over 10 dB was observed in a 10 m long Nd3+ doped fibre at around 1.33 mu m. This wavelength is the closest to the important 1.3 mu m telecommunication systems so far reported.
