Abstract :
ASIC designers design for manufacturability by using various simulation modes, each based on a specific methodology for characterising model parameter values. To use circuit-level simulators effectively, an understanding of how the device model parameters are generated is necessary. After an overview of the CAE tools used in analogue ASIC design, the use of progress, device and circuit simulators, in conjunction with empirical tests, by the ASIC manufacturer are discussed
