Abstract :
The authors investigate the bend performance of wide, fibre-matched, multiple quantum well optical waveguides at 1.54 mu m wavelength, demonstrating low-loss S-bends using bend radii of 15 mm. Origins of the excess bend losses in the structures are discussed and compared to theoretical models.
