Abstract
A four-channel transimpedance amplifier to be used in a compact disc front-end is presented. The overall transimpedance gain of the four channels is set by controlling the gain of a gain-controlled buffer. This solution requires for setting the gain of the four channels only one external precise resistor. The system has been realized in a 0.7 μm BiCMOS technology. It consumes 40 mW from a single 5 V supply and achieves 36 dB SNR for an input signal with a 0-3.2 MHz bandwidth, without requiring an equalizer in the signal path
