Abstract :
Frequency-resolved optical gating (FROG) measurements have been used to characterise the propagation of picosecond pulses at a wavelength around 1.5 μm in a dispersion shifted optical fibre. These FROG measurements have allowed the direct retrieval of the intensity and phase of the output pulses from the fibre, clearly showing the effects of dispersive and nonlinear pulse shaping
