Abstract :
We fabricated the core of a 10 000-channel broadcast-and-select system and demonstrated the feasibility of its operation over 20-km transmission. The 10000 channels were composed of 32 wavelengths with 310 subcarriers, and the bit rate of each channel was 20 Mbit/s. Consequently, the total throughput amounted to 200 Gbit/s by using wavelength-division multiplexing and subcarrier multiplexing technology. This system can be applied to networks that provide broad-band multicast/broadcast services.
