Abstract :
The first IEEE International Conference on Circuits and Computers, (ICCC 80) was held at the Rye Town Hilton Inn, in Port Chester, New York between October 1–3, 1980. The total number of attendees was about 1,200. The total number of papers presented was about 270 from authors from 30 countries. The industry attendance was over 70 percent of the total. For a first conference, ICCC 80 was a great success. As a matter of record I was told that no IEEE Conference had reached 1,200 at their first meeting. The subject of VLSI was a major factor in the success of ICCC 80.
