Abstract
The author argues that although we should not be wasteful or despoil our environment, there is no need to limit our extraction of raw materials in order to preserve them for the use of future generations. He details how experience allows us to conclude that advances in technology will reduce our dependence on such raw materials long before they are likely to run out.
