Abstract
For pt. I see ibid., p. 60-8, September 1997. In their description of that give-and-take for high-altitude theater missile defense systems, George N. Lewis and Theodore A. Postel overstate the ease and efficacy of offense countermeasures, understate the potential of defense countercountermeasures, and thus paint a picture of defense futility. But that picture is as inaccurate as the one the authors paint of Patriot´s performance in Desert Storm. Both are suggested as wrong by the present authors. The original authors give their reply
