Abstract
The elastic properties of pulsed magnet coils affect their peak value of magnetic field. The radial deformation of turns and the dynamic increase of skin depth in massive conductors are factors that reduce the magnetic field. The phenomenological definition for skin depth of magnetic flux has been corrected for motion of conductor towards or away from the field source. The loss in peak field value can reach 5 to 8% or more, especially in systems for magnetic pulse forming and processing of materials.
