Abstract :
A new formulation of load flow equations in a balanced three-phase distribution system is developed. Voltage magnitudes and real and reactive power losses in the series are chosen as variables, and Newton´s method is applied for the solution of the set of equations. Computer implementation of the formulation is presented. The convergence characteristics are found to be good, and results for a representative system are included. Advantages and drawbacks of the algorithm are discussed.
