Abstract
In this paper we show how the method of lines can be generalized for the analysis of inhomogenous media. The inhomogeneity is completely arbitrary; the permittivity of the investigated structures may vary in all three coordinate directions. Subjects under investigation are isolated dielectric resonators, microstrip filters with dielectric and metallic lossy resonators, and planar capacitors
