Abstract :
In order to fabricate a compact cryocooled-magnet jellyroll-processed Cu/Nb/sub 3/Al conductors have been developed. The conductors containing Nb-rich Nb/Al ratio and alumina-Cu performed good ductility and high J/sub c/ of 775 A/mm/sup 2/ at 12 T and 4.2 K. The conductor showed reduction of hysteresis loss as the filament diameter decreased. The authors discuss difference in superconducting and mechanical properties between Nb/sub 3/Al and Nb/sub 3/Sn.
