Abstract :
Measurements of the spectrum dependence on temperature of a broadband diode-pumped fibre laser, targeted as a source for high grade fibre gyroscopes is reported. With the proper choice of pump wavelength, the temperature of this source need only be stabilised to 0.1 degrees C for a mean laser wavelength stability of 1 p.p.m., compared to 0.003 degrees C for a superluminescent diode source.
