Abstract :
A coherent free-space optical communication system is analyzed for lognormal-Rician turbulence channels using Padé approximants. Highly accurate closed-form BER expressions are developed for binary phase-shift keying with maximum ratio combining and binary differential phase-shift keying with selection combing receptions. Asymptotic error rate analyses for these systems are also presented.
