Abstract :
A maximum gain of 5.5 dB was observed in a Nd3+-doped fluoride fibre around the 1.3 mu m wavelength for a practical signal input level of -10 dBm. The pump power used was only 50 mW in a 820 nm wavelength, and a pumping efficiency of 0.13 dB/mW was attained.
