Abstract :
The influence of rainfall on slant-path propagation at frequencies above 10 GHz is crucial especially in tropical and equatorial areas. Until now it has been principally radiometric data that was available in such high rainfall rate regions for evaluating communication system margins at these frequencies. First rain attenuation results obtained by means of an 11 GHz beacon, INTELSAT V, in Indonesia as well as simultaneous rain intensity data are proposed.
