Abstract :
This paper describes a formation process of a dielectric barrier discharge with an array of many small floating electrodes on the barrier surface at atmospheric pressure. The discharge formation is roughly classified into three modes. The first mode is an onset of discharge which occurs around the edge of floating electrodes. The second and third are the discharges in a region separated from floating electrodes and at a short distance from them, respectively.
