Steinmetz: This paper is interesting in the deductions you draw from it, because the statement made that a short gas path will not carry a discharge at voltages which will go over a much longer gas path, is rather in contradiction of our present ideas of the nature of breakdown in gases as determined by constant breakdown gradient.
