Abstract :
Reflections on 1977 linguistic creations and styles in US English illustrate some of the overt misconstructions such as `giant sale´ and `alleged suspect´ as well as new ones (`reverse discrimination´) that seem to serve a purpose and may someday be added to our lexicons.
