Abstract :
An efficient algorithm to optimise the reservoir utilisation levels of pumped storage power plant units in probabilistic production costing methodology, used for power generation expansion planning, is presented. The deconvolutions involved in off-loading the units for optimal reservoir utilisation of pumped storage units is avoided and a new technique is developed. The technique is also useful if hydroelectric power plants are in the system. The method proposed is independent of equivalent load duration curve representation
