With all the fanfare about high-level languages and concurrent processes in the technical literature, it is interesting to note that programmers at the Megadata Corp, of Bohemia, N.Y., have put in about seven man-years on a 40 000-word program written entirely in assembly language — and were they to do it over, they say they would still do it mostly in assembly language.
