Abstract
The security-constrained power system optimal power flow problem is solved using a distributed processing environment. By using a parallel processing system, a computer network can be viewed as a parallel virtual computer. An efficient and portable asynchronous algorithm, extended to include fault tolerance capabilities, has been used. This approach has been successfully implemented on a 10-workstation network. Results obtained with two Brazilian power networks are also reported
