Abstract
An analytical model of the anisotropic trapezoidal antenna is developed by showing that this antenna can be treated as a modified compressed `dispersionless´ log-periodic dipole array. This model accounts for all resonant behaviour caused by element mutual coupling. Theoretical and experimental results indicate that, although this array displays characteristic strong, narrow-band resonances, a useful operating band can be obtained by adjusting the feedline characteristic impedance and termination.
