Abstract :
A transmission line transformer (TLT) with 50 Omega characteristic impedance on one side and approximately 5 Omega on the other side is described. It is small and rugged, and has a large bandwidth and low reflection coefficient. One of its applications is demonstrated, to improve the temporal response of a commercial high-speed photodiode as compared with a conventional 50 Omega coupling scheme.
