Abstract :
Area control error (ACE) is used as the input variable in conventional load-frequency controllers. ACE is a sum of total tie-line powder deviation and area frequency error with constant weights on each variable. Because the systems are nonlinear, the relative strength of these two variables should be adjusted to match the system operating conditions. A modified algorithm to form ACE with time-varying weights on the two variable is proposed. Results for a two-area system show improved system performance over conventional linear control with constant weights.
