Abstract :
We propose and experimentally demonstrate a novel interleave division multiple access technique with complexity-simplified receivers for a 32 × 1.25-Gb/s multiuser wavelength-division multiplexing-polarization multiplexingpassive optical network (WDM-PoMUX-PON) scheme compatible with a 40-GHz radio-over-fiber (RoF) system for the first time. A 2-m wireless and 40-km single-mode fiber-28 downlink transmission of 32-user signals at 1.25 Gb/s, and transmission of 4 × 5-Gb/s on-off keying upstream have been achieved. Based on extrinsic information transfer chart analysis, we further investigate the convergence property of the proposed complexity-simplified receivers. The experimental results show that this scheme is a cost-effective solution for multiuser access in future WDM-RoF-PON, and the power penalty of the original and proposed receivers can be neglected.
