Abstract :
Wavelength insensitive operation of a Fabry-Perot laser integrated with a Mach-Zehnder modulator is demonstrated in an external fibre grating configuration from 1540 to 1560 nm. The threshold current is ~40 mA with 0.2 mW output power coupled into a fibre at 80 mA. Open eye diagrams at 2.5 and 10 Gbit/s as well as transmission at 2.5 Gbit/s with negative penalty have been obtained
