Abstract :
Distortion and noise promote detection errors in digital holographic storage systems. Trellis-coded modulation (TCM) combines modulation and error-correction coding to reduce the bit error rate. The author describes a novel implementation of TCM for these systems that exploits two-dimensional pixel dependence. Relative computational efficiency is provided, facilitating high data throughput
