Abstract :
The peaking capacitor´s role in ionization processes is clarified. The preionization discharge is found to be essentially independent of the peaking capacitor. It is shown that the peaking discharge current flows through the laser main gap. The influence of the peaking capacitor on the gas mixture optimization, is discussed
