Abstract :
A computer program, LIGNE, has been developed as a comprehensive teaching aid for the section on transmission line theory in an electromagnetics course. The program assists the student in the analysis of transmission lines, enabling him to quickly assess how the various line parameters and the terminal load effect the propagation characteristics. At the same time, it provides him, through graphic representations of voltage patterns along the line, with a deeper insight into the physical aspects of signal propagation in this system. LIGNE is highly interactive and menu-driven, so that very little training is required for its operation. The program is written in Turbo-Pascal and may be run on an IBM or IBM-compatible personal computer equipped with an 8087 coprocessor and a color graphics card.
