World of Renewables [From the Editor]

Over the course of the past five years, we have devoted a fair number of pages in this publication to the study of renewable energy sources, and we will surely offer further presentations as these renewable technologies continue to mature. However, an area not explored in detail is the impact of these energy sources on electricity markets, a subject of varying implication in different parts of the world. At our Editorial Board meeting in Calgary last year, we discussed the importance of our readers recognizing and understanding these implications in order to have a comprehensive overview of all that is entailed. This issue is a direct result of those discussions.
