Abstract
The minimum norm formulation within the framework of functional analysis optimization technique is used to maximize the total hydro energy of multichain reservoirs (general configuration) during the dry period of the year. The optimal control problem is formulated as a mathematical problem by constructing a cost function in which the total energy generated by all hydro plants during the entire dry period is maximized, taking into account the hydro constraints. The proposed technique is computationally efficient compared to existing techniques, and is able to deal with real systems. Numerical results for a system of nine reservoirs are reported.
